An exploration of ethnomathematics at Sewu Temple in Yogyakarta

This study explores the elements of mathematics (geometry and arithmetic) in Sewu Temple. As research is qualitatively discussed, ethnographic design appropriately implemented with observation, interviews, documentation for collecting data. The data analysis technique shares four steps; collecting, reducing, presenting, drawing a conclusion—the validity using triangulation techniques. results this indicate that there are mathematical shape building reliefs Temple; flat shapes, spatial geometric transformations, arithmetic sequences. existing forms include; squares, rectangles, isosceles trapezoids, right circles, triangles, octagons. Furthermore, blocks, tubes, rectangular pyramids included shapes. transformations form reflection (mirror), translation (shift), dilation (multiplication). ethnomathematical exploration at Temple can be used as instructional teaching schools, especially geometry,
